I’m Sarah Yakawonis the lady behind Folded Petal. Folded Petal is a place to find out how to make paper flowers and what to do with your blooms when your done. It’s my hope that I can share with you, in detail, how I make paper flowers. I’ll also share really fun and innovative projects and products with you.

All of my free tutorials focus on rare and endangered flowering plants because I think that species identification is so important for these wild gems. My hope is that through making these flowers you will get to know them, and get so familiar with how they look that you will recognize them in the wild! And if you do spot one please note were it is (your phones GPS can really come in handy for this) and tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as soon as you can.

Folded Petal is a dream of mine, a dream I work on every day to make more real. Achieving any dream is hard work and there are obstacles in the way. One of my obstacles is my dyslexia. There was a time in my life when I would do anything not to write, because I can’t seem to write more then a few sentences before I make a mistake. A mistake I can’t recognize, and when published embarrasses me. But then the idea of Folded Petal started growing, and I decided that my desire to share my knowledge with you was more important than any embarrassment I might feel. So all of that is my way of saying: I’m going to do my best but it won’t be perfect. If you see a mistake, let me know by emailing me at info.folded.petal [at] gmail.com and I’ll fix it. But I’m not going to let the fear of embarrassment hold me back!

Resources for the Media

Here are some real / paper side by side images to use in articles and posts! If there is a flower you would like me to give this treatment to just send me an email and I’ll whip one up in tow shakes of a lambs tail!
